Universal Studios

At Universal Studios, enter a universe of thrills rides and entertainment!

INSIDER TIPS:

On Revenge of the Mummy, face fireballs, scarab beetles and an army of warrior mummies on a psychological thrill ride that plunges you into total darkness!

On Jaws, a giant fin slices through the waves and you’re suddenly face to face with three tons of shark! You're riding a boat through the water where he's lurking way too close! Are you ready to withstand the all-out attack of JAWS?

Terminator 2:3D Battles across time is a 3-D and live action battle royal!

Special Events:

Halloween Horror Night occurs nearly every night in October from 6:30pm to 12:00pm or 2:00am, depending on the day. The fun but wild event includes access to seven haunted houses, five scare zones, and one show, "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." The place crawls with way too realistic-looking zombies!

If you want to avoid long lines and overcrowding, plan to go on a Sunday evening, or early in the week, like on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Expect that you will be among a large crowd if you go on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights. Another tip is to arrive at 5:30 and one of the first to line up for, at least, the first haunted house you tour.

Tickets to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure do NOT include admission to Halloween Horror Nights, which requires a separate ticket.

If you can afford it, buy an "Express Pass" that will allow you immediate access. You can actually jump the queue and go right into haunted houses and other attractions. Universal Studio approved hotels often throw in an Express Pass for free! Without it, plan to be in line for an hour or more for each attraction.

Tickets sell out quickly, so buy them online and early, and print them out on your own printer. You can also buy tickets at the gate, if they are still available, but why spend time waiting in line?

Stay and Scream tickets enable access to Halloween Horror Nights at a discount if you've already purchased regular park tickets and want to go to Halloween Horror Night that same evening. They range in price with Saturday being the most expensive.

Halloween Horror Night is too frightening and intense for children, even with an adult. I recommend permitting children fourteen and over to go to Halloween Horror Night with an adult, but not without an adult present. The crowd tends to be mainly young adults, many of who obviously had a few too many.

Universal Mardi Gras happens nightly from early February through mid-April. Universal Studios transforms into a festive New Orleans French Quarter street, and thirteen elaborate floats make their way through the crowd. Everyone tries to catch beads, and prestige is wearing many, many bead necklaces!

You can buy authentic Cajun and Creole classics such a jambalaya, gumbo and beignets and party drinks made famous in New Orleans.

Like Halloween Horror Nights, the crowd generally tends to be young adults and many become tipsy. Tickets are bought separately from regular Universal tickets.
